Want to cut out some calories in 2016. Get rid of pasta and bread. I love this new pasta alternative made out of butternut squash and this sauce is spicy and amazing. You can do the entire package with sauce for only 240 calories!
I’m one that is very picky about smells.
Some of my favorite smelly things for the holidays:
Lady Primrose Royal Extract Body Cream
Goes very well layered with your favorite perfume
NEST Holiday candles and diffusers
These make a great gift also.
Dear Nest – you should have this scent all year long
or maybe you don’t want sales in the summer?
Yes I know it’s a dumb name but a friend turned me onto these jewelry travel bags that are amazing. Lots of color options and sizes – I love these for a girlfriend birthday gift.
You know how you go to a SPA and they have this yummy fruit infused water in a beautiful dispenser? Well guess what…I got one of those dispensers (it’s not beautiful but it fits in the fridge). Experiment with different fruits – my current favorite is pineapple chunks and fresh rosemary! You’ll feel like you are at a SPA when you are cleaning your house.
Now if I could only get Raoul to come give me a massage in my laundry room…
an open letter to my dear friend:
You have been a good friend and I love you. We’ve celebrated the good days together and drowned out the bad ones. In the mornings I hate you and I regret spending so much time with you but by 5 pm each (and every single) day I have forgiven you and we are BFFs again.
I notice that I have a tire around my middle. I have tried everything EXCEPT diet or exercise and nothing works. I have discovered that it’s YOUR FAULT. So guess what? I’m dumping your ass.
Meet my new BFF – The LauraRita – we seem to be better suited. I have yet to drink a whole bottle at one sitting and my mornings are much more enjoyable. Plus I actually remember posting dumb shit on Facebook and writing my blogs!
My new favorite drink… The LauraRita
Fresh Lime Juice
An equal (my little sweet secret)
Pour into a wine glass (for old time sake)
Top with club soda
Just tell your bartender you’ll have a LauraRita – they’ll hook you up!
I took the devil out of these eggs and made them less caloric.
Here’s the recipe – the exact measurements are not that important.
Hard boiled eggs – yokes removed and discarded – cut in half
Non-fat plain yogurt
Finely chopped celery
Finely chopped dill pickles
Finely chopped green onion
Finely chopped capers
Salt (lots) and pepper
Mix and fill the eggs
Calories for one whole egg – 2 halves: 35
(a regular deviled egg has 128)
I made these up (I think) and they are GREAT! So here’s what you do
I’m not big into exact measurements but I’m sure you can figure it out.
Cut up peeled banana into 1 inch slices
Put on wax paper lined cookie sheet in freezer overnight
Melt chocolate chips with a little cream to thin it
Dip top of banana slice in chocolate
Dredge in crushed chow mein noodles
A quick take on the Grammys
NOT HAPPENING for me AT ALL:
Really? The outfit topped off with GRILLS on her teeth-
YO YO YO Madonna – you da bomb
Were you twerking your hair when you were singing?
PERFORMANCE: Paul McCartney and Ringo
Happy 50th anniversary – it’s over boys but hey ! Great ride right?
SONG: Brave – Sarah Bareilles
How can a new song be so overplayed in such a short time? NEXT
NOT HOT: Daft Punk – please please keep those masks on
I really do not like reading. Especially fiction – that’s like reading about all the stuff you could be doing it you weren’t reading. Like 50 Shades of Gray – wouldn’t it be more fun to DO than read about? I do like reading non-fiction and self-help books because God knows I need help and I like reading comedy – David Sedaris is a good one. Recently I was looking through some old books and buried in the pile of 5 books I’ve read in the last 20 years was my old favorite by Ellen Degeneres titled My Point… and I Do Have One. If you like Ellen, you will love this book. I first read this when I was on maternity leave with my son, Gray (18 years ago). I was BORED out of my mind watching him sleep all day. I passed the time by staring at him to make sure he was still breathing and reading this book. I’m sure I would have had post pardum depression if it weren’t for ths book so essentially Ellen saved my life! Hey, once she finds out that she is my hero, she will probably have me on the show and give me a car so I have that going for me. She was just as funny then as she is today – for a good laugh, I highly recommend it.
